The Digital Wedding Photographer
The digital wedding photographer is one of the most important people at your wedding. Don’t make these mistakes!
What would a wedding be without the digital wedding photographer; just how much would the bride and groom remember a few years later; although digital wedding photography is usually carried out by a professional, you can guarantee a large number of people will have their cameras with them. There is no reason why a DVD can’t be made of the occasion to complement to photos!
Most wedding photographers have assistants so they can create a wedding album that will be memorable but if you want to take pictures of a friend’s wedding, who will help you? Here are some tips if you find yourself at a friend or relations to be the digital wedding photographer at your wedding.
Unless you know how to compensate or have taken the shot purposely for effect; remember the background is very important. If there is a pleasant background but it is hard to focus on the couple, you may find it easier to shoot them from shoulder up.
If some of the guests are wearing glasses, they can be asked to stand with their heads a little down or sideways to avoid the glare effect from spectacles that normally appears when a flash is used. If you are shooting into the light, remember to compensate and increase the aperture otherwise the couple (or guests) will appear dark in the image.
A zoom lens will often enable you to take pictures that would not otherwise be possible as people are not so conscious of their photo being taken. You should be alert at all times when shooting digital wedding photography since you can seldom ask people to keep posing for you and the day is also about spontaneity.
The last thing you want to happen is for your digital camera to have half charged batteries and a memory card that is already half full as it will restrict how many shots you can take. For 6 mega pixel cameras and up, the absolute bare minimum should be a 1 gigabyte card, preferably 2 gigabytes and always use the highest resolution your camera can manage if the images are to be printed.
High resolution images are generally clearer and have greater color depth but it also means they can be printed out at larger sizes. Storing the wedding images on a computer or CD will mean that you can print them off whenever you want but a presentation CD can be played back on a TV.
Photography is an art form that many people try to master, just like painting but how well your digital wedding photography images of the day come out will be down to your passion for photography. Having a trusted person be the digital wedding photographer at your wedding will make all the difference.
