Plan Your Own Wedding!
Want to plan your own wedding? Here are a few ideas for ceremonies! Marriage is a union of two people that starts with a ceremony that is called a wedding; many changes have been made to the law surrounding a marriage in the last twenty years or so. The ceremony is an opportunity to perform a traditional service and celebrate with friends and family. until the marriage certificate is signed by the bride, groom and witnesses, the ceremony is not finalized. The man getting married is called the groom or bridegroom to give him his full title and the woman the bride; they are then referred to by the title husband and wife, once they are married.
Church Ceremonies
Of course other wedding traditions can be much more complicated as soon as you look into different race, social classes and ethnic groups to name a few. Many people, whether religious or not, still prefer to have a traditional ceremony performed by a recognized religious minister in a Church of their choice. Of course we all know and love the white wedding but this is not the generally accepted form of ceremony in every Christian country.
Multiple Services
Double marriages are quite rare as they usually entail getting two couples to marry at the same time and same place; ceremonies such as this are usually instigated by siblings who like the idea of a simultaneous marriage.
Foreign Resort Weddings
Marriages in foreign countries are called destination weddings where guests can arrive either just before the ceremony or actually travel with the couple; destination weddings automatically conjure up exotic countries but it could just as easily be a themed wedding in Las Vegas to qualify for that title.
Themed Weddings
Weekend weddings are becoming popular and in Ireland they take place over the course of three days. Themed occasions can involve golf, hang-gliding, shooting or any type of venue you can imagine. Usually the accommodation for the guests is part of the package and often includes a Sunday lunch or something similar.
Ceremonies Online
Internet weddings seem to be something that has come about recently and a number of people are now using this method to seal their vows; internet based specialists are already available to help organize your ceremony. An internet or online wedding can also refer to a situation where a couple may broadcast their marriage to friends and family in other parts of the world.
City Hall Marriages
A civil wedding is a ceremony presided over by a local civil authority, such as an elected or appointed judge, justice of the peace or the mayor of a locality. For people that elect this type of ceremony it is not important to them if God or religion is referred to in such a brief service. Often, this type of service will take place in a judge’s chambers, town or city hall or any other specially designated place.
If you live in a Christian country then you will recognize many of these wedding traditions but there are many more types of ceremony available around the world. Take a few into consideration if you want to plan your own wedding.
